The “Supply Chain Management Project for HIV/AIDSCommodities under the National AIDS Control Program(NACP)” aims to strengthen the technical capacity of theNational AIDS Control Organization (NACO) and State AIDSControl Societies (SACS) to design, manage and monitorsupply chain for increased access of high quality ARV drugs,HIV testing kits and other commodities across India.The Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for SupplyChain Management (SCM) of HIV/AIDS commoditiesincluding ARV drugs, HIV testing kits and othercommodities have been developed considering thechanges in approach and strategy adopted for supply chainmanagement of ARV drugs over the last few years underthe National AIDS Control Program (NACP).The SOPs will serve as a guiding tool for all the supply chainstaff across State AIDS Control Societies (SACS) andfacilities to manage the supply chain of HIV/AIDS drugs andcommodities in an effective and efficient manner.Increased knowledge and skills of staff engaged in deliveryof care and treatment of HIV/AIDS will help in improvingthe management of HIV/AIDS commodities at all levels ofthe supply chain.
This would also help in standardizingsystems and processes and guide the work of supply chainstaff at different levels.
